Beautiful natural stone combines with a thoughtful design to create a cozy and relaxing sitting area perfect for soaking up the tranquility of Madison's Lake Monona or gathering with friends and family.
Houses situated on corner lots often pose a challenge when creating outdoor living spaces. They tend to have very small backyards with most of their green space exposed in the front. Landscape Architect Andrea Robertson worked with the homeowners to design a space that takes advantage of this property's beautiful and unobstructed view of Lake Monona. Nicholas Solutions brainstormed with both the LA and the homeowners to find suitable materials to build a curved natural stone seat wall and a clay brick that matches the architecture of the historic house and neighborhood . Each of the pieces in the curved section of the seat wall were hand-shaped by NS craftsman to form the arc using locally quarried sawn-to-height lannon wallstone. The custom capstones were fabricated by the cut stone experts at Madison Block & Stone and the patio bricks from Old Virginia Brick are individually wood-moulded to achieve their antique appearance.
"Room with a View"
“We had been tossing around ideas for creating a more inviting entrance to our home and outdoor patio space for several years. We approached several contractors and were told the only option to create the seating wall we wanted was concrete product (made to look like stone.)
Nicholas worked with us to find stone and brick of a quality and price that we are delighted with. The space he created is exactly what we were hoping for. His attention to detail, friendly manner and pride of craftsmanship made this project a pleasure.” - Renee Lauber
